Jenn Gardiner, Izzy Daniel, and Michelle Karvinen all found the back of the net on Sunday to propel the Vancouver Goldeneyes to a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Torrent at Ball Arena during the PWHL’s Takeover Tour. Emerance Maschmeyer put on a stellar performance with 33 saves for the Goldeneyes.
Seattle’s lone goal came from Jessie Eldridge, who managed to score against Vancouver (4-1-2-6) despite their recent struggles, having lost three of their last four games. Hannah Murphy made 28 saves for Seattle, who previously defeated Toronto 6-4 but couldn’t secure a win against Vancouver.
The pivotal moment in the game came when Hannah Miller assisted Izzy Daniel, who capitalized on a scoring opportunity to give the Goldeneyes the lead with 13:37 remaining in the match. Michelle Karvinen sealed the victory with a goal at the 6:18 mark.
Vancouver, now boasting a record of 5-1-2-7, had previously defeated the Torrent 4-3 in overtime during the season opener for both teams. Jenn Gardiner opened the scoring with a goal in the final five seconds of the first period, showcasing her skill with a precise shot past the Seattle goaltender. Seattle’s Eldridge managed to equalize in the second period, beating Maschmeyer with a well-placed shot after a setup from Julia Gosling.
