A 47-year-old man from Pond Inlet, Nunavut, is facing multiple charges following an incident where he allegedly assaulted a woman and drove an all-terrain vehicle into a house in the Baffin Island community. According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the episode prompted schools and businesses to go into lockdown after reports surfaced that the man was armed.
In a statement released on Friday, the RCMP clarified that no weapon was found, and the lockdown was lifted once the man was apprehended. The individual is now confronted with seven charges, which include assault by choking, forcible confinement, making threats, and causing mischief. He is currently in custody and was set to appear for a bail hearing in Pond Inlet on Friday.
