Canadian figure skaters Alicia Fabbri and Paul Ayer secured the fourth spot in ice dance, while Gabrielle Daleman landed in seventh place in the women’s singles competition at the Four Continents Championships held in Beijing. The ice dance podium was dominated by American skaters, with Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik clinching the gold medal with a total of 202.86 points. Caroline Green and Michael Parsons captured the silver medal with a score of 194.72, and Oona and Gage Brown took home the bronze with 190.78 points.
Fabbri and Ayer, both two-time Canadian championship bronze medalists, amassed a total of 183.49 points in their performance. In the women’s singles event, Yuna Aoki from Japan claimed the gold medal with an impressive score of 217.39 points. Her compatriots, Ami Nakai and Mone Chiba, secured the silver and bronze medals respectively with scores of 215.78 and 202.23 points.
Daleman, a two-time Olympian, slipped from fourth place after the short program to finish in seventh place following the free skate, accumulating a total of 183.47 points. The 28-year-old skater from Newmarket, Ontario, made her second international appearance after a hiatus due to a back injury and two ankle surgeries. Despite aiming to qualify for her third Olympic Games, Madeline Schizas secured Canada’s sole spot for the upcoming Milan Cortina Games, leaving Daleman out of contention.
Numerous skaters bound for the Olympics, including Schizas, opted out of the Four Continents Championships due to its proximity to the Games.
