Reece Howden of Canada secured a bronze medal in a World Cup men’s ski cross event in Val di Fassa, Italy, adding to his impressive season tally of six medals (four gold, one silver, one bronze) ahead of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina. Simone Deromedis of Italy clinched the top spot, earning the gold, while Florian Wilmsmann of Germany claimed silver. Kevin Drury from Toronto also made it to the final and finished in fourth place.
Howden, the current leader in overall World Cup men’s ski cross points, is poised to potentially secure his fourth Crystal Globe this season. He aims to surpass his ninth-place finish at the 2022 Beijing Olympics in the upcoming Winter Games. Unfortunately, no Canadian women qualified for the final, with Ottawa’s Hannah Schmidt being the top Canadian finisher in 10th place. Reece Howden, hailing from Cultus Lake, B.C., is determined to add a senior Olympic medal to his collection, building on his success at the Youth Olympics in 2016.
The event marks an important milestone for Howden as he continues his pursuit of Winter Olympic success.
