The new crossing boasts modern X-ray imaging facilities and reduced toll rates compared to its 96-year-old counterpart.
Despite the potential cost savings for trucking companies, high diesel fuel prices and other economic factors may delay any noticeable benefits for consumers. President of the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada, Mike Millian, noted that costs have risen significantly due to various factors like tariffs and global conflicts affecting oil prices.
