“Every Year After” Prime Video Series Renewed for Season 2

The popular Prime Video series “Every Year After,” adapted from Carley Fortune’s best-selling novel “Every Summer After,” has been greenlit for a second season. The show, which features Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett in lead roles and is executive produced by Carley Fortune, premiered earlier this summer.

The storyline of “Every Summer After” revolves around Percy and Sam, childhood friends whose strong bond was fractured by a pivotal event, leading to their separation. The narrative delves into their complex love story as they reunite years later at a funeral.

The upcoming season of “Every Year After” will draw inspiration from Fortune’s book “One Golden Summer,” set in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. In this installment, the focus shifts to Sam’s brother, Charlie, a beloved character, as he embarks on a long-awaited romantic journey.

“One Golden Summer” introduces Alice, a photographer seeking solace at her childhood cottage with her grandmother. However, her plans for a peaceful summer are disrupted when the charismatic and irresistible Charlie reappears in her life. As their paths cross, Alice finds herself experiencing a sense of nostalgia and pondering the possibility of unexpected developments during this season.

Peter Friendlander, Prime Video’s head of global TV, expressed enthusiasm over the audience’s enthusiastic response to “Every Year After,” highlighting the widespread appeal of Carley Fortune’s storytelling and the strong connection viewers have developed with the Barry’s Bay universe.

Carley Fortune, a renowned Toronto-based journalist and author, has a notable career history, having contributed to esteemed publications such as Refinery29, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, and Toronto Life. Her literary works include “Meet Me at the Lake,” “Every Summer After,” “One Golden Summer,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Our Perfect Storm.”

“Meet Me at the Lake” garnered attention as a finalist on Canada Reads in 2024, championed by fashion influencer and model Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel to feature on the show.

“Every Year After” is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
