Parise Jeffrey, his stepmother, emotionally expressed that saying goodbye to Nickerson feels unreal and will be a difficult reality to accept.
Nickerson’s obituary highlighted his selfless nature, mentioning how he would share his lunch money with others, even if it meant borrowing from family members or store clerks. The RCMP confirmed that the dog attack involved two Cane Corsos and a Rottweiler, all of which were euthanized following the incident. Nickerson, who was born in Yarmouth, N.S., was fatally attacked while riding his bike in Welshtown. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on January 5 in a Halifax hospital.
The community rallied around Nickerson’s family, with an outpouring of support shown through a successful GoFundMe campaign that raised nearly $150,000. The Southwest Blast FC, Nickerson’s soccer team, remembered him for his love of the sport and the positive energy he brought to every game.
