Ncuti Gatwa has shared a heartfelt tribute to a Doctor Who guest star who left him “shocked”.
The BBC series continues tonight (April 19) as viewers get better acquainted with The Doctor’s new companion, Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu.
Episode two of the new series, titled “Lux”, sees the Doctor and Belinda forced to travel back in time after failing to return to 2025.
Upon landing in Miami in 1952, they encounter a tragic event involving a local picture house that has been causing problems.
Unable to resist a mystery, The Doctor gets involved and quickly finds himself in over his head, reports Wales Online.
The episode is vibrant, entertaining, and introduces a terrifying cartoon character named Mr Ring-a-Ding.
However, an unknown force prevents their return, and the time-travelling TARDIS team must confront formidable dangers, fierce enemies, and unprecedented terrors.
Speaking about some of the guest stars on this season, Ncuti enthused: “Rylan is a great actor and took me by surprise.
“He just absolutely gave his heart and soul to it, and I was shocked to discover he is a huge Whovian.
“He is the loveliest, loveliest, loveliest man, his energy stayed on set for a little while, everyone kind of felt the love for Rylan, so it was really nice to work with him.
“Rose (Ayling-Ellis)… It was brilliant to work with Rose and amazing to learn British Sign Language.
“I was very much struck by how much of a better way it is to communicate. It feels so much more heartfelt and emotive and expressive. She is so hilarious and talented and brilliant.
“Jonah (Hauer-King) was a real pleasure to work with and again the loveliest loveliest boy. Everyone who has joined this season – and there are still some surprises to come – have been great.”
Doctor Who continues on BBC One on Saturday, April 19 at 7.15pm
