A teenager who died following an incident involving farm equipment this week has been pictured for the first time.
Harry Moss died after sustaining severe injuries caused by machinery on a farm in Malvern, Worcestershire, on Thursday morning in an incident which also left a man in hospital. The incident, which saw a massive emergency presence at the Malvern property, tore Harry’s mum’s world apart, she said in a heartbreaking tribute on Facebook. Holly McMurray said in a post on the social media platform that Harry would be “forever loved”, and told how proud she was of the teenager, her firstborn child.
She wrote: “My boy forever loved. My first born. My world has fallen apart. Fly high my homing pigeon. Harry you did me so proud but boy you was 14 working too hard! Farmer forever. I love you so much.”
Family friend Maggie Murrihy has set up a page on GoFundMe “on request” of Ms McMurray to raise funds to cover the cost of Harry’s funeral. She paid her own tribute to the teen, remembering him as “the most amazing” son and brother to his siblings who loved farming and fishing.
She wrote: “As everyone is aware harry passed away under tragic circumstances. Harry Moss was the most amazing teenager who had his whole life ahead of him it was tragically take at just the young age of 14 him being the eldest sibling of the family.
“He was an amazing big brother and son and lived his life like a little homing pigeon if he left home it was either to do what he loved farming or fishing .
“No parent should have to go through this unimaginable pain or recieve this kind of news and i know nothing can help with the pain. I’m hoping this will ease any financial burdens regarding his passing and funeral costs.”
Several hundred people have contribute to the fundraising campaign in the last few hours since it was created, with 390 donors having already smashed the family’s target. A total of 390 donations have so far raised £7,740, outstripping the family’s £3,000 goal by more than double.
West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police rushed to the scene of the accident involving Harry on Thursday, with a number of teams deployed after the incident was reporting. A spokesperson for WMAS said two air ambulances were sent to Malvern, with crews arriving to find a teen in “critical condition”.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the time despite medics’ best efforts. The spokesperson said: “On arrival, crews found a teenage boy in a critical condition and immediately began administering advanced life support. Sadly, despite best efforts, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
The service added that a man found with serious injuries at the scene was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
