The Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) recently announced the temporary closure of a bus stop on the south side of the city due to a sudden death investigation. The bus stop, situated between May and Leith Streets in Thunder Bay, Ont., was unavailable for use for several hours last Thursday as law enforcement conducted operations in the vicinity.
In a statement on Monday, TBPS media relations co-ordinator CJ Goater confirmed to CBC News that the incident is now tied to a sudden death investigation. Although no further specifics were disclosed, Goater previously characterized the situation as a “non-criminal incident.”
The police presence at the location was clarified by Goater as being in a supportive role for other first responders. The bus stop, adjacent to Paterson Court, has since reopened. However, it will remain closed until emergency services complete their activities in the area, according to Brad Loroff, the transit services manager.
Loroff assured that all other transit services are operating normally, except for the temporarily closed stop. Interested individuals can obtain real-time information about the city’s transit services by downloading the transit app on their mobile devices for free.
