X-Men actor Tyler Mane, known for portraying Sabretooth in the original X-Men and Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween, recently revealed his battle with breast cancer. Mane shared on Instagram that he is part of the 1% of breast cancer cases in men, emphasizing the importance of early detection.
Initially dismissing a lump he found on his chest, Mane eventually sought medical advice at his wife’s insistence. The diagnosis in early April confirmed a rare, rapidly growing form of breast cancer. Mane highlighted the lack of awareness surrounding male breast cancer, noting that men often delay seeking help due to societal stigmas.
Breast cancer in men is a rare occurrence, representing less than 1% of all breast cancer cases in Canada. Dr. Mojola Omole stressed that breast cancer awareness should not be limited to women, as everyone has breast tissue and is susceptible to the disease. Mane, who has started chemotherapy, urged men to prioritize their health and not ignore warning signs.
By sharing his journey on social media, Mane aims to raise awareness and encourage men to be proactive about their health. He emphasized the importance of early detection for successful treatment outcomes. Mane expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received and plans to launch a podcast to further educate and inspire others about breast cancer.
