Stellantis announced on Tuesday a global recall of more than 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire risks. The company advised owners to park these vehicles away from structures or other cars until the necessary repairs are completed.
The recall pertains to Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator trucks from model years 2021 to 2025. It addresses an issue with the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring that could potentially overheat combustible materials, posing a fire hazard in rare instances.
Approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the U.S., 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other international markets are included in the recall, according to Stellantis.
The company stated that the recall process will entail inspecting and potentially repairing or replacing the wiring harness or the electric hydraulic power steering pump. Stellantis aims to expedite the availability of the remedy and expects the recall fix to be completed by July.
Stellantis acknowledged receiving reports of one potential injury related to the issue but confirmed no crashes or fatalities associated with it.
