In Windsor, the year presented challenges but also successes for minivan production. Recent data from Stellantis for 2025 indicates a notable increase in Canadian sales of Chrysler Pacifica and Grand Caravan compared to the previous year. The Grand Caravan experienced a 30% surge in sales, while the Pacifica saw a remarkable 95% rise, contributing to significant growth for the Chrysler brand. On the flip side, Stellantis’ overall sales in Canada declined by 12% year-over-year as the company works towards strengthening its presence in the North American market.
Trevor Longley, the president for Canada at Stellantis North America, highlighted the company’s centennial year in Canada and expressed optimism for a robust 2026, building on recent progress and slight market share advancements. Anticipating a continued positive trend with the introduction of new products, including a new gas-powered Dodge Charger produced alongside the minivans in Windsor. This new addition follows the underwhelming response to electric versions of the iconic muscle car, with only one battery-powered Charger model remaining available.
The company confirmed sales of less than 1,000 units of the current generation Charger (LB), encompassing both the Dodge Charger Daytona EVs and gas-powered SIXPACKs. Despite the slow start for the internal combustion SIXPACK, with production commencing just last month, the Daytona EVs dominated the 2025 sales figures. Local dealerships reported minimal sales of the Daytonas but noted a surge in buyer interest for the SIXPACK models, indicating a potential shift in consumer preference.
