“Ketamine Queen” Sentenced to 15 Years for Matthew Perry’s Death

A woman who admitted to providing the drug ketamine to actor Matthew Perry, resulting in his death in 2023, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by a federal judge on Wednesday. Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett emphasized the need for resilience as she handed down the sentence to Jasveen Sangha, who expressed a desire for self-improvement during the hearing.

Sangha, aged 42, received a sentence significantly longer than her four co-defendants combined due to her involvement in Perry’s death and her drug-dealing activities. The sentencing marked a significant moment in the 2.5-year investigation and prosecution following the overdose death of the renowned actor, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the popular TV show “Friends.”

Keith Morrison, Perry’s stepfather and a correspondent for NBC’s “Dateline,” spoke at the hearing, expressing ongoing sadness over Perry’s untimely death. Sangha, acknowledging her role in Perry’s demise, described her actions as devastating decisions that impacted lives.

Prosecutors portrayed Sangha as a key figure in a drug operation catering to high-end clients, labeling her as the “Ketamine Queen.” Despite her lawyer’s arguments for a lesser sentence, the judge agreed with the prosecution’s recommendation for a 15-year term.

Perry’s death was attributed to a combination of factors, including ketamine use, drowning, and underlying health conditions. Sangha’s guilty plea included charges related to drug distribution, with her lawyer attributing Perry’s demise to addiction rather than Sangha’s actions.

The judge carefully deliberated on the sentences for all defendants involved in the case, noting Sangha’s extensive drug business and clientele as factors contributing to her heightened culpability. Family members of the victims and supporters of Sangha filled the courtroom, reflecting a somber atmosphere during the sentencing.

Ultimately, Judge Garnett acknowledged the complexity of the case and the impact on all involved parties, expressing hope that justice would provide some solace to the victim’s family.
