“Stellantis and Microsoft Partner on AI and Cybersecurity”

Stellantis and Microsoft announced a strategic partnership lasting five years to collaborate on artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and engineering capabilities. This move comes as Stellantis strives to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving automotive landscape, where technology plays a pivotal role in companies’ strategies. Particularly, Chinese automakers are aggressively enhancing their offerings to attract customers globally and domestically.

Traditional automakers, often facing challenges in software and tech development, are increasingly seeking partnerships with tech firms to accelerate progress and tap into their expertise. Stellantis’ Chief Engineering and Technology Officer, Ned Curic, emphasized the impact of partnering with Microsoft in advancing their AI initiatives across the organization.

While specific financial terms were not disclosed, Stellantis has been actively engaging in tech collaborations to enhance software capabilities and deliver more personalized experiences for drivers. Notably, the partnership with Microsoft expands on their previous collaborations in connected vehicle platforms and in-car digital services.

The agreement entails over 100 AI projects spanning various areas such as product development, predictive maintenance, testing, and the swift integration of digital features and services. Additionally, the collaboration aims to bolster Stellantis’ global cyber defense center using AI-driven analytics to safeguard vehicles, customer data, and operations worldwide against cyber threats.

Part of the collaboration involves Stellantis transitioning its IT infrastructure to Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform to achieve a significant reduction in data center footprint by 2029. This strategic move underscores the automaker’s commitment to modernizing its technology infrastructure to meet evolving industry demands.
