The aid package includes $1.6 billion in loan guarantees to international banks and financing for the International Monetary Fund. Zelenskyy updated Carney on diplomatic efforts with the U.S. to resolve the conflict, with plans to discuss a 20-point peace proposal with Trump in Florida.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s defenses and negotiation processes with international support. Carney commended Zelenskyy’s efforts and highlighted Canada’s commitment to Ukraine. The upcoming talks with Trump will focus on security guarantees and economic agreements, with territorial issues also on the agenda.
Moscow’s demand for Ukrainian territory in the Donbas region remains a point of contention, with Zelenskyy proposing a demilitarized zone monitored by international forces. Progress has been made in peace negotiations, with Zelenskyy stating that a potential agreement with the U.S. is close to completion, despite challenges in resolving territorial disputes.
The Kremlin confirmed ongoing dialogue with U.S. representatives following recent meetings, indicating a commitment to further discussions. Zelenskyy remains hopeful for a comprehensive resolution to the conflict, aiming to address all outstanding issues in the peace talks.
