On the other hand, the 18-year-old Andreeva, seeded eighth, showcased a commendable performance with six aces, two double faults, and a single break in four chances. She managed to secure 66.7% of first-serve points. Additionally, Mboko and Andreeva triumphed over Australia’s Ellen Perez and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands in the Round of 32 of the women’s doubles tournament with a score of 7-6 (7), 6-3. In men’s singles action, Montreal’s Félix Auger-Aliassime faced a defeat in the third round against France’s Terence Atmane with a score of 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. Despite Auger-Aliassime’s impressive 11 aces and 26 winners compared to Atmane’s 12, the French player managed to break the tie in the final set and secure the win.
Argentine world No. 19, Francisco Cerundolo, delivered a stunning upset at the Miami Open by defeating Russian Daniil Medvedev 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 in the fourth round. Cerundolo, aged 27, achieved his first top-10 victory of the season against the former world No. 1. The match showcased intense rallies, with Cerundolo’s forehand aggression proving instrumental in disrupting Medvedev’s rhythm.
