Claire Thompson, Sophie Jaques, and Izzy Daniel netted goals in succession in the third period to lead the newly established Vancouver Goldeneyes to a 4-3 triumph over the Boston Fleet on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit as part of the Takeover Tour event.
Boston, the current front-runner with a 6-0-1-2 record, took a 3-1 lead early in the third period with Jamie Lee Rattray scoring just 19 seconds into the period in front of a crowd of 33,871, marking the third-largest attendance in league history.
Vancouver, with a record of 3-1-1-5, quickly responded with goals by Thompson at 4:21 and Jaques on a power play at 8:01 to level the score. The Goldeneyes capitalized on their power play opportunity for the second time in their last 14 attempts.
Daniel then broke the tie 3:22 later, giving the Goldeneyes the lead, which was successfully defended by goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer.
Tereza Vanišová registered her fifth assist, while Michela Cava notched her third on Thompson’s goal. Daniel provided her first assist of the season on Jaques’ goal, with Hannah Miller contributing her third assist. Miller also assisted on the game-winning goal, with Jenn Gardiner earning her third assist of the season.
Boston initially took the lead with Olivia Mobley scoring the opening goal assisted by Ella Huber and Rylind MacKinnon. Vancouver’s Miller quickly responded with an unassisted goal to level the score.
The Fleet regained the lead 2-1 shortly after with Susanna Tapani’s goal. The teams had an even number of shots in the scoreless second period after Boston dominated the first period with a 16-4 shot advantage.
Aerin Frankel made 17 saves for the Fleet, while Maschmeyer made 24 stops for the Goldeneyes. This game marked the sixth of 16 games in the 2025-26 PWHL Takeover Tour, and the Goldeneyes secured their first victory in six away games from their home at Pacific Coliseum.
