“Toyota Canada Recalls 70,480 Vehicles Over Instrument Panel Issue”

Toyota has initiated a recall of 70,480 vehicles in Canada following a problem with the instrument panel display that could result in essential information not being shown, potentially raising the likelihood of accidents or injuries, as per an update from Transport Canada on Thursday. The recall, initially announced on September 11, encompasses various models such as Venza, Highlander, Tacoma, and GR Corolla, along with certain Lexus models, affecting only vehicles equipped with a 12.3-inch display. The issue stems from a software error in the instrument panel that may cause the failure to display crucial details like vehicle speed, brake system status, and tire pressure warning lights upon vehicle startup. Transport Canada stated that owners will be contacted via mail and advised to visit a dealership for a software update on the combination meter. For specific vehicles, dealers will also examine and, if needed, replace the combination meter. Toyota Canada intends to inform impacted vehicle owners by mid-November, as mentioned in a recent statement on the company’s website.
