Taylor Swift has secured the top spot on Spotify’s inaugural list of the most streamed artists in history, which was released on Thursday morning. Following closely behind is Puerto Rican sensation Bad Bunny. In 2025, Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, claimed the title of the year’s most played artist on the popular streaming platform for the fourth time, overtaking Swift. This ongoing back-and-forth battle between the two artists saw Swift reigning supreme in the previous two years, while Bad Bunny dominated from 2020 to 2023.
Taking the third spot on Spotify’s list of most streamed artists of all time is Drake, followed by The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Eminem, Kanye West, Travis Scott, BTS, Post Malone, Bruno Mars, J Balvin, Rihanna, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Juice WRLD, in that order. When questioned by The Associated Press, Spotify did not disclose details regarding its data collection methods.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Spotify not only recognized its top streamed artists globally but also compiled lists of the most streamed albums, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks. Streaming plays a significant role in the music industry’s revenue, accounting for 82% of total earnings in the U.S., as reported by the Recording Industry Association of America.
