Waitrose has stunned shoppers with its unusual 2025 Easter range. As you’d expect, there are many tasty-looking chocolate Easter eggs to choose from. There’s also a £15 treat seemingly inspired by the season’s must-have snack, but it isn’t an egg.
For £15, shoppers can pick up a chocolate croissant instead, and it’s fair to say it’s gotten lots of people talking online. Facebook page Very British Problems highlighted Waitrose’s No.1 The Chocolate Croissant in a recent post, sparking an equal mix of excitement and confusion among shoppers.
“You know youâre in Waitrose when you see an Easter egg shaped like a croissant,” the post read. Viewers were quick to share their thoughts on the unconventional design.
Someone replied: “Egg is beginning to be an abstract concept I see.” Another joked: “Nothing says Easter more than a chocolate croissant.” A third wrote: “Not an Easter egg then,” and a sceptical viewer claimed: “Iâd be miffed if someone gave me that for Easter!”
However, a fan replied: “I’d buy that in a heartbeat, that looks bloody amazing.” Someone joked: “That’s breakfast sorted then,” and a commenter who liked their logic added: “Now that makes it even more acceptable to have chocolate for breakfast.”
Others pointed out that the croissant is not advertised as an egg. That said, many shoppers have nonetheless dubbed the croissant an Easter egg thanks to its similar design.
As per Waitrose’s description, fans can expect “a perfectly shaped croissant made of rich blonde chocolate with feuilletine and biscuit inclusions inside the shell”. It is drizzled with milk chocolate and sprinkled with crunchy chocolate crumbs.
Whether or not the chocolate treat counts as an egg, it’s sure to delight lots of shoppers this Easter. The chocolate croissant has earned high praise in several viral taste test videos.
TikTok user Emily Jade (@Emiiyjade), for instance, gained over 250,000 views after reviewing the croissant in a video captioned: “This may have topped the easter eggs I’ve tried so far.” Emily suggested: “It tastes exactly like Caramilk… That is amazing. This would be such a good Easter egg, and I’m sorry that’s so creative and the detail on this is actually amazing.”
