The Ottawa Senators are addressing the circulation of false and baseless narratives surrounding goaltender Linus Ullmark and his current absence, attributing these stories to online trolls and malicious individuals.
Ullmark, aged 32, has been on leave since late December due to personal reasons, as disclosed by the team on December 28. Despite affirming their full support for the veteran Swedish goalie, the organization refrained from divulging specific details regarding his absence. Recently, the team released a strongly worded statement denouncing the proliferation of unfounded rumors on social media, clarifying that these claims have no basis in reality.
Expressing disappointment, the statement, credited to general manager and president of hockey operations Steve Staios, highlighted the fabricated nature of the stories circulating online and emphasized the importance of respecting Ullmark’s privacy. The team’s statement further condemned the disruptive efforts of external entities aiming to sow discord within the hockey club.
In a show of solidarity, Senators players, including team captain Brady Tkachuk, voiced their support for Ullmark following the initial announcement of his leave. The team has not provided any specific timeline for Ullmark’s anticipated return to action.
