She has lost count of the number of items in her collection and the amount of money spent acquiring them. Lawlor’s collection is not just about quantity; each item holds a special significance to her, with a story behind its acquisition.
Lawlor’s passion for Scooby-Doo dates back to her childhood when she first came across a Scooby-Doo toy owned by her brother. This initial encounter sparked her love for the franchise, especially during the late 1990s and early 2000s when Scooby-Doo merchandise was popular due to the release of live-action movies.
Her collection has grown extensively, now occupying most of her living room space with various vintage items such as jigsaw puzzles, VHS tapes, dolls, figurines, action figures, and more. Additionally, Lawlor possesses unique pieces, including character reference guides used by Hanna-Barbera staff, a character model sheet, a storyboard from a Scooby-Doo film, and a framed comic book ad promoting the original TV show from 1969.
Lawlor’s collection also features autographed memorabilia from key figures in the Scooby-Doo creation, such as the founders of Hanna-Barbera and the original animator of the Scooby-Doo gang. She even owns a giant cardboard display featuring the Scooby-Doo gang and the Mystery Machine, which she convinced a store to sell to her.
In recent years, Lawlor has expanded her love for Scooby-Doo by starting a podcast titled “The Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo.” As a journalism graduate, she saw an opportunity to delve into the behind-the-scenes world of the franchise through interviews with those connected to it. Her podcast has gained unexpected popularity, allowing her to speak with renowned individuals like Frank Welker, the voice of Fred in the original show and current voice of Scooby-Doo.
