Ontario’s police oversight agency is investigating a crash between a police vehicle and a motorcycle that resulted in one person being hurt in Welland. The incident took place on Friday, as per a news release by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). At approximately 9:40 p.m., an officer from the OPP’s Niagara detachment was in a collision with a motorcycle at the intersection of Highway 58A and Reaker Road, according to OPP officials. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the officer escaped unharmed. The Special Investigations Unit looks into police engagements involving fatalities, severe injuries, or sexual assaults.
