Kansas City’s professional football team issued a statement on Wednesday evening acknowledging allegations of domestic violence outlined in a series of social media posts by an ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice. The team confirmed ongoing communication with the NFL regarding the matter but refrained from mentioning Rice by name, stating that they would not provide any additional comments at the present time.
In her Instagram posts earlier that day, Dacoda Nichole Jones, who shares two children with Rice, shared photos suggesting signs of physical abuse without explicitly naming Rice as the alleged perpetrator. The incident was reported to have taken place in Overland Park, Kansas, although no official police reports from that location were available.
Rice had been sidelined for the initial six games of the season due to an NFL suspension stemming from his involvement in a traffic accident on a Dallas highway during the 2024 offseason, resulting in multiple injuries. Following a guilty plea to third-degree felony charges related to the incident, Rice received a 30-day jail sentence along with five years’ probation.
Despite his off-field challenges, Rice contributed 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns during the season as Kansas City struggled to a 6-11 record, failing to reach the playoffs for the first time in ten years.
