James Blunt’s most hilarious one-liners as he kicks of 20th anniversary tour

It’s hard to believe we were first introduced to James Blunt over 20 years ago.

The singer, now 50, captured hearts with songs such as “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye, My Lover”, and now he’s kicking off a brand new tour this month too. To honour his first album, Back to Bedlam, James is heading on the road again to perform some of his most-loved hits around the country.

But, as well as being known for his songs, he’s also known for being the “King of X”, or “Twitter” as it was once known. Perhaps this is because he always makes people laugh with his brilliant one-liners.

People have previously talked about it on Reddit after he was asked about his social media brilliance on The Graham Norton show. An old clip of the show emerged on the platform, and it’s left people in hysterics.

In a candid interview, James admitted he can be “deeply unpopular”, but he said he “messes around” online to “abuse himself before people”. It’s all done to try and laugh at some of the messages he receives from strangers.

One message he received read: “Can we all take a moment to remember just how terrible James Blunt was?” To which the singer replied: “No need, I have a new album coming soon.”

Someone else said: “James Blunt has Twitter. What would he even Tweet about?” To this, James replied: “B***ing your mum.”

Another woman wrote: “I have this dire need to listen to James Blunt when I’m menstruating.” Naturally, the singer picked up on this, and said: “Useful feedback. I’ll pass this onto my marketing team.”

People on social media were left in hysterics at some of the quips – and, whether you like his music or not, it’s fair to say it’s pretty easy to fall in love with him. After all, his banter level is completely off the charts.

Many admitted they can’t help but like him after seeing the hilarious comebacks. He knows how to draw in a crowd.

One person replied: “Damn, I suddenly like James Blunt.” A second also added: “Bless that guy. What a dapper chap.” A third wrote: “I like James Blunt. His latest album is actually my favourite. Recently saw him on tour and it was very good.”

There are also other moments that stand out in people’s minds for being utterly brilliant. For example, a few years back the singer appeared on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing to perform a stripped back version of his hit “Goodbye, My Lover”.

Even though most people were left in awe of the performance, one person wrote: “James Blunt voice goes right through me #pressesmute @bbcstrictly”. James was quick to hit back with: “Coz you’re so hollow, baby.”

Meanwhile, someone else said: “If a man quoted a James Blunt song for me I think I’d vomit!” James was quick to respond with: “And I’d willingly hold your hair back.”

But some of the most hilarious has to be when he makes very simple points to the people who message him. One social media user wrote: “If it wasn’t for Twitter everyone would’ve forgot about @JamesBlunt to be honest!”

Naturally, the singer was quick to reply as he was tagged. He cheekily responded with: “And the most relevant you’ll ever be is that one time James Blunt Tweeted you.” Ooh, burn!
