Peter Kay has undergone a dramatic weight loss transformation in recent years with the star showing off his new look on tour.
The comedian, 51, who’s currently on his Better Late Than Never tour, has playfully addressed the audience about his slimmed-down figure during his stand-up routine. However he has since had to apologise for a weight gag as he compared a heckler to Emmerdale star Lisa Riley.
A female audience member also asked to leave the show when she screamed “we love you”. As she was being escorted out by security, she was reportedly met with a mean joke about her weight when Peter compared her to actress Lisa.
Following the show, the comedian defended the remark, telling ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “I didn’t realise it was an insult. She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn’t realise that was an insult.”
Lisa, 48, is best known for portraying Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap Emmerdale and has been open about her own battle with her weight. The actress has shed an incredible 12 stone in recent years after overhauling her lifestyle and diet.
And she’s not alone with her transformation, as Peter has also gone on an incredible weight loss journey. Fans were first left in awe when he stepped out looking noticeably slimmer during a 2023 stand-up performance at the O2.
A photo with musician Bryan Edery sparked a frenzy online, with some fans barely recognising him. Even though he was dressed in a casual black tracksuit, it was clear that Peter had shed a significant amount of weight.
Back in 2020, Peter had a Manchester Arena crowd in stitches as he recounted his experience with Slimming World. He quipped: “If you don’t know what Slimming World is, it’s like Weight Watchers, but a quid cheaper. I went once, Methodist Church Hall in Bolton, all the women were sat around in a semi circle.”
He went on to say: “‘Big round of applause for Debbie, she’s lost a pound’. I said: ‘A pound? I s**t a pound, what’s that? ‘” One pound! Big deal!” The comic genius had audiences in fits of laughter with a routine featuring “Carole in the back”, noting her near-miss on getting a “half-stone sticker” and her diet-breaking fry-up mishap.
Peter quipped: “Carol, take the ‘c’ off chips, what do you get? It’s up to you love, I can’t do it for you.” More recently, the beloved stand-up comedian showed off his slimmed-down figure when he was seen hopping back on his tour bus at the O2 Arena in London ahead of his tour dates there.
The star looked casual and low-key for his outing, showing off his weight loss in simple black fleece and blue jeans along with a backpack and hat. The Cradle to Grave actor’s lack of winter coat showed off his trim figure, making him almost unrecognisable after his years away from the spotlight.
