Halifax New Year’s Day Closures and Openings

On January 1 in the Halifax area, here is a rundown of what will be open and closed:

**Groceries:**
– Walmart, Sobeys, Atlantic Superstore, and Costco will be closed on New Year’s Day and resume operations on January 2.
– Shoppers Drug Mart will have varying hours at different locations; refer to their website for details.
– Gateway Meat Market will reopen on January 2.
– Some smaller independently owned grocery stores may be open on January 1, but it’s advisable to confirm by calling ahead.

**Beer, Wine, and Spirits:**
– NSLC locations will be closed on January 1 and reopen on January 2, while some agency stores might remain open.
– The Moosehead Cold Beer Store in Dartmouth will operate from noon to 8 p.m. on January 1.
– Bishop’s Cellar and WestSide in Halifax as well as Harvest Wines in Dartmouth will reopen on January 2.

**Libraries:**
– All Halifax Public Libraries locations will resume services on January 2.

**Transit:**
– Halifax Transit will follow holiday schedules on January 1.
– Ferries will not run on January 1.

**Municipal Recreation Facilities:**
