“Hackers Disrupt Iranian TV to Support Exiled Prince”

Hackers disrupted Iranian state television satellite transmissions to air supportive footage of the country’s exiled crown prince and urged security forces not to target civilians, online videos revealed early Monday. This incident follows widespread protests in Iran, with activists reporting over 4,000 fatalities due to the crackdown on demonstrators. The disruption coincided with the withdrawal of Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s invitation to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, due to the lethal response to the protests.

Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated as President Donald Trump set red lines for Tehran, warning against violence towards peaceful protesters and mass executions. The U.S. deployed an aircraft carrier towards the Middle East, passing through the Strait of Malacca after being stationed in the South China Sea.

The hacked footage, broadcast on multiple Iranian channels, featured clips of exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and purported security forces pledging allegiance to the people. The state broadcaster acknowledged a temporary disruption in some areas without specifying the content that was aired.

The incident involving the crown prince isn’t unprecedented, as past disruptions of Iranian broadcasts have occurred. The death toll from the recent protests in Iran has surpassed 4,000, with various groups impacted, including demonstrators, security personnel, children, and others. Reports indicate thousands have been arrested, raising concerns about potential executions.

Amid the ongoing unrest, the World Economic Forum and the Munich Security Conference have taken steps to distance themselves from Iranian government officials. The situation remains volatile as the international community closely monitors developments in Iran.
