Abbotsford authorities confirmed that a deadly shooting that occurred in a residential area on Friday is linked to the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia. The Abbotsford Police Department stated that the incident on Siskin Drive was not related to extortion and assured the public that there is no additional threat.
Sgt. Paul Walker informed the media that law enforcement received reports of gunfire around 12:30 p.m. PT on Friday, emphasizing that the shooting was isolated to a single property on Siskin Drive. Walker disclosed that the individual involved in the incident is a familiar figure to the police and has ties to the B.C. gang conflict. He also mentioned that the case is now being handed over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
Following the shooting, Siskin Drive was temporarily closed off between Sandpiper Drive and Stellar Court. Walker expressed the community’s distress over such events occurring in their neighborhood, disrupting the peace and sense of security.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting or possessing relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward and assist in the investigation. Police officers were actively seeking surveillance footage at the scene to aid in the ongoing inquiries.
