“Freezing Rain Alert: Golden Horseshoe on Tuesday”

The Golden Horseshoe region in Ontario is expected to encounter freezing rain lasting several hours on Tuesday, as per Environment Canada. Freezing rain, possibly mixed with snow or ice pellets, is set to commence in the morning for Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford, tapering off in the afternoon according to a special weather advisory. Meanwhile, the Niagara Region will witness some rain in the late morning, with a potential risk of freezing rain by noon.

The weather alert cautions that icy and slippery conditions on roads and walkways are probable, with icy surfaces possibly being challenging to identify. Local utility outages are a possibility, and there is a risk of injury from slips and falls. Halton Student Transportation Services announced the cancellation of school buses for the day, although schools will remain open.

In terms of temperatures, Brantford is forecasted to feel like –9°C in the morning, with Hamilton feeling like –8°C due to the wind chill. The Niagara Region will experience decreasing temperatures from a daytime high of 4°C to an evening low of 0°C, with rain periods expected to cease by midnight.

Additionally, Brantford and Hamilton are anticipated to have evening rain periods. Brantford’s temperature is projected to drop to as low as 1°C, with cloudy skies and a possibility of flurries or rain showers. In Hamilton, rain is expected to persist until the late evening, followed by cloudy conditions, a chance of flurries, and a low of 1°C.
