In a recent auction, a lightsaber featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from the movie The Empire Strikes Back was sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million US. This marked the highest price ever paid for a prop used in a Star Wars film, as confirmed by the auction house.
Now, enthusiasts have the chance to acquire the lightsaber that played a significant role in Luke Skywalker’s storyline. A Darth Vader lightsaber, famously used in the iconic duel in Cloud City where the famous line “I am your father” was spoken, will be a key item in the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction organized by Heritage Auctions on November 12th.
Anticipated to fetch at least $1 million US, the Vader lightsaber was also featured in Return of the Jedi. This lightsaber is one of over 25 prop lightsabers that will be available for bidding during the auction, covering the Star Wars saga from Episodes I to IX, along with props from other movies and TV shows set in the universe created by George Lucas.
Among the items up for auction are the lightsabers used by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, which are expected to sell for a minimum of $10,000 US each.
Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster wielded by Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back is estimated to fetch over $100,000 US. The auction will also feature a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz in the original appearance of the character in The Empire Strikes Back, Anthony Daniels’ signed personal third-draft screenplay for the 1977 Star Wars, and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
