Céline Dion Makes Stunning Comeback with Romantic French Ballad

Céline Dion unveiled a fresh single on Friday, marking her return to the music scene. The new release is a gentle and romantic French ballad titled “Dansons,” translating to “Let’s dance” in English. Accompanying the single is a music video filled with romantic scenes set in Paris, showcasing different couples dancing freely in public spaces.

This release comes ahead of Dion’s upcoming series of performances at the Paris La Défense Arena from September 12 to October 17, confirming her highly anticipated comeback after signs hinting at her return began appearing around Paris. The signs featured lyrics from some of Dion’s popular songs like “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love.”

Dion’s hiatus from the stage was prompted by health issues that led to the cancellation of her previous world tour. The new single, “Dansons,” was written by renowned songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, marking Dion’s first French release in over a decade and her first original song in several years. Her most recent musical contribution was in 2023 on the soundtrack for the film “Love Again.”

Collaborating once again after their successful past projects, Dion and Goldman previously worked together in 2016 on Dion’s “Encore un soir” and her 1995 album “D’eux,” which remains the highest-selling French-language album of all time.

In 2023, Dion was compelled to cancel her Courage world tour due to her battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that significantly impacted her singing abilities. The tour had already been postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dion made her return to the public stage in July 2024, performing Edith Piaf’s “Hymn to Love” during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris and later at a fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, honoring designer Elie Saab’s 45-year career.
