Almost four decades ago, during a 1978 interview on CBC with Paul Soles, Catherine O’Hara, a cherished Canadian actress, comedian, and writer, showcased her early comedic talent in a favorite skit – a spoof advertisement for a product named “Milk of Amnesia.”
“Once the kids are tucked in for the night, and truthfully, I’m exhausted,” she shared. “After a demanding day, do you ever long to unwind, relax, and let go of the day’s challenges? I certainly do – thanks to Philips Milk of Amnesia. I simply pour myself a glass of Philips Milk of Amnesia and watch the day’s worries fade away to who knows where.”
In recognition of O’Hara, who has been nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Comedic Role at the Canadian Screen Awards for her role as Moira Rose in “Schitt’s Creek,” CBC Arts unearthed this archival clip. Take a seat, enjoy the humor, and reminisce about why O’Hara initially brought laughter to our lives.
