A woman who was stabbed to death inside a block of flats has been named locally as Rebekah Campbell. Merseyside Police were called to Knowsley Heights, Huyton, at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, April 15 to a report that a woman had been stabbed following a “domestic incident”.
Officers attended and gave the victim first aid until paramedics arrived. Ms Campbell, who is believed to have been in her 30s, was rushed to hospital where she sadly died from her injuries. A cordon was put in place outside the block on Wednesday and part of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal in Litherland was shut off in connection with the investigation.
Photos this week showed police divers searching the canal. The entrance to the waterway was taped off by police and a special unit vehicle was seen parked nearby. A 34-year-old man has since been arrested by Merseyside Police on suspicion of murder.
Heartbreaking tributes have been shared on social media from Rebekah’s loved ones who described her as a “beautiful, caring” woman who “loved being around her family and friends”. Chelsea Campbell said: “Until we meet again our queen. Always look up to you even while you’re not here.” Antonia Evans said: “Forever young our beautiful girl, I will love and miss you forever.”
Another person posted: “Heartbroken RIP Becky such a beautiful, caring girl. I can’t believe this has happened to you. Heartbroken. Thinking of all your family at this devastating time RIP angel.”
