U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to participate in Trump’s Board of Peace initiative, which aims to address global conflicts. However, Putin quickly responded, stating that the invitation is still under review.
Speaking to reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump confirmed Putin’s acceptance after meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte. In contrast, Putin informed the Russian security council that the foreign ministry is currently evaluating the proposal and will provide a response in due time.
Trump justified the inclusion of Russia in the initiative by emphasizing the importance of involving all nations, particularly those led by influential figures. He acknowledged that while some may view the individuals involved as controversial, they are capable of achieving results and hold significant sway.
