A curling team led by Corryn Brown from Kamloops announced its dissolution following their B.C. women’s championships defeat. Team Brown, including Samantha Fisher, Sarah Koltun, and Erin Pincott, had represented B.C. at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts four times, with their latest playoff appearance last year. Despite a chance to represent the province once more this year, they were bested by Victoria’s Taylor Reese-Hansen’s team at the provincial championships.
In a social media post on Saturday, the team revealed their plans to pursue new opportunities individually and expressed gratitude to their supporters. Fisher explained to CBC’s Daybreak Kamloops that the decision was prompted by the completion of a four-year cycle and the upcoming Olympic cycle discussions happening across Canadian teams.
Brown, emotionally reflecting on their journey, emphasized the importance of their friendship and future prospects. With an infant at home, Brown intends to continue curling and awaits potential team opportunities. Following the upcoming Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Mississauga, she anticipates significant team changes. She praised the experience of starting out with friends and highlighted their achievements in boosting curling interest.
Coached by Jim Cotter, Team Brown reached the finals of the PointsBet Invitational championship last year. Brown expressed gratitude for the shared experiences and friendships forged through curling, hoping their journey has contributed to the sport’s growth.
