Melania Trump was joined by a humanoid robot companion during the concluding day of a summit held in the White House East Room as part of her Fostering the Future Together global initiative. The summit focused on empowering children through education, innovation, and technology, including artificial intelligence.
The U.S. first lady and the robot strolled together down the red carpet towards the East Room. Melania paused at the entrance while the robot positioned itself at the center of the room where the panelists were seated after circling the table.
After scanning the audience, the robot addressed the attendees, expressing gratitude for the invitation and acknowledging the significance of being part of the global coalition’s inaugural meeting. It introduced itself as “Figure 03,” a humanoid designed for the United States, emphasizing its role in empowering children through technology and education.
Following greetings in multiple languages, the robot thanked the audience and retraced its steps down the red carpet. Figure AI, a robotics startup based in Sunnyvale, California, unveiled Figure 03 in October 2025 as a third-generation humanoid robot intended for household assistance with tasks like laundry and cleaning.
CEO Brett Adcock celebrated the milestone of Figure 03 becoming the first humanoid robot at the White House, positioning the startup against industry competitors like Boston Dynamics, Tesla, and various Chinese firms in the development of human-like robots capable of performing human tasks.
