“WestJet Flight Attendants Stage Nationwide Strike in Canada”

Around 30 WestJet flight attendants staged a demonstration outside Halifax Stanfield International Airport due to a nationwide strike triggered by unsuccessful contract talks between the union and the airline. All WestJet flights at the airport were canceled for the day, causing inconvenience to numerous passengers, including Ed and Ann Meehan from the UK. The couple, who were forced to rebook their flights at their own expense with added layovers, expressed disappointment and stated that their perception of Canada had been negatively impacted.

Similarly, traveler Ryan Callbeck faced problems as his flight to Regina was canceled, and attempts to reach customer service were unsuccessful. The strike, involving 4,287 WestJet flight attendants across Canada, was called over issues related to compensation and working conditions. WestJet assured affected passengers of refunds or alternative arrangements as necessary.

Airport officials advised individuals with WestJet bookings in the coming days to verify their flight status online before heading to the airport.
