Canadian athlete Abigail Strate clinched the bronze medal in the women’s ski jumping World Cup event held on Wednesday. Hailing from Calgary, Strate accumulated 222.3 points in the normal hill competition, securing her fourth World Cup medal this season, including one gold, two silver, and the recent bronze.
Previously, Strate had won medals in the large hill category, which will debut at the upcoming Milano-Cortina Winter Games. In this recent event, Austria’s Lisa Eder and Slovakia’s Nika Prevc claimed the first and second spots respectively, ahead of Strate.
Reflecting on her performance, Strate expressed contentment with her achievements, particularly highlighting her qualifying jump. Despite finishing ninth in the previous World Cup event, she embraced the competition and is eagerly anticipating future challenges in the season.
At 24 years old, Strate is gearing up for her second Olympic appearance in February, set to represent Canada at the upcoming games in Italy. In the 2022 Games, she secured a 23rd place in the individual normal hill event and also grabbed a bronze medal in the mixed team event.
Excitement surrounds Strate as she prepares to compete in the prestigious sporting event, looking to build on her past successes and make a mark in the upcoming Winter Games.
