“Trump’s Envoy Questions Iran’s Nuclear Stance Amid Rising Tensions”

U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, expressed President Trump’s curiosity about Iran’s reluctance to agree to restrictions on its nuclear program despite the growing military presence of the U.S. in the Middle East. Witkoff highlighted Trump’s interest in why Iran has not yet shown willingness to cooperate, emphasizing the pressure exerted by the U.S. military force in the region.

Trump has authorized a significant military buildup in the Middle East and made preparations for a potential extended air assault on Iran. In response, Iran has issued threats to target U.S. bases if attacked. The U.S. demands that Iran abandon its enriched uranium activities, which could be used for weapon development, cease supporting extremist groups in the Middle East, and impose restrictions on its missile program.

While Tehran insists that its nuclear initiatives are peaceful, it is open to some restrictions in exchange for the removal of economic sanctions. Witkoff cautioned that Iran’s enrichment levels have surpassed civil nuclear requirements, posing a potential threat in terms of bomb-making materials.

Discord remains between Iran and the U.S. regarding the alleviation of sanctions during negotiations, as highlighted by a senior Iranian official. Additionally, Witkoff mentioned meeting with Iranian opposition figure Reza Pahlavi under Trump’s directive, without disclosing further details of the encounter.

Simultaneously, student-led protests erupted at Iranian universities at the commencement of a new academic term, with clashes reported between students and pro-government factions. The demonstrations coincided with traditional ceremonies for mourning individuals killed during previous anti-government protests. Students at Sharif University of Technology were captured on video denouncing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and advocating for Reza Pahlavi to assume a monarchical role. Protests also occurred in other universities and towns across Iran, with reports of clashes and anti-government sentiments expressed.

The situation in Iran continues to evolve amid escalating tensions and internal dissent.
