Embracing the demanding lifestyle of an athlete, Mitchell shared her journey with CBC Sports, expressing her appreciation for the process of improvement and the resilience she has developed.

Recently, Canada’s bobsleigh team concluded the IBSF World Cup season by securing three sleds in the two-woman event for the upcoming Milano-Cortina Olympics. Mitchell and her partner, Melissa Lotholz, achieved their season-best performance, finishing eighth in the event held in St. Moritz, Switzerland on January 11.

Awaiting the results from Altenberg to determine their qualification for the Games, the 32-year-old athlete from Sherwood Park, Alta., remains hopeful and reflective. Undeterred by challenges, Mitchell acknowledges the uncertainty of the outcome but remains proud of her efforts and contribution to the team.

In her pursuit of a spot on the 2026 Olympic team, Mitchell stands alongside notable Canadian athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Games. Regardless of the final decision, Mitchell maintains a positive outlook, expressing her willingness to support the team in any capacity.

Reflecting on her transition to bobsleigh, Mitchell’s perseverance and determination shine through. Overcoming initial obstacles, she quickly adapted to the sport’s demands, showcasing her commitment to continuous improvement. The journey, documented by Mackenzie Stannard, captures Mitchell’s resilience and camaraderie with her teammates.

For Mitchell, bobsleigh symbolizes a rediscovery of her passion for sports following a setback in track cycling. The narrative of her journey resonates with Stannard, emphasizing the importance of reconnecting with one’s purpose as an athlete. The behind-the-scenes feature by Stannard, available on CBC Sports’s Youtube channel, provides a glimpse into Mitchell’s inspiring athletic odyssey.
