Taylor Swift has confirmed her collaboration with the upcoming fifth installment of the iconic “Toy Story” franchise. The renowned singer-songwriter announced on Monday that she will be contributing an original song titled “I Knew It, I Knew You” to the film’s soundtrack, set to be released on June 5.
In an Instagram post, Swift expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s a *Toy* Story 🤠 You knew it! I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5-year-old kid.”
True to her signature style, Swift’s announcement was cleverly teased through a countdown on her website, featuring imagery of the beloved character Jessie from “Toy Story” and billboards bearing the singer’s initials in the film’s font. Fans on social media began speculating about Swift’s involvement after Pixar shared a video on Instagram showcasing a TS billboard and a dancing Jessie, accompanied by a nod to Swift’s hit song “Shake it Off.”
The strategically placed billboards in various cities, including Toronto’s Union Station, fueled fan theories further, with sharp-eyed enthusiasts noting the presence of 13 clouds on the billboards, a nod to Swift’s favorite number. Additionally, followers uncovered subtle references to the Pixar franchise in Swift’s recent album artwork and TikTok searches.
This venture into animated films is not Swift’s first, as she previously lent her voice to the character Audrey in the 2012 film “The Lorax” and made an appearance in the Disney animated series “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb.”
“Toy Story 5” is scheduled to premiere on June 19, reuniting fans with the beloved characters Woody and Buzz, voiced by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, as they face a new challenge involving technology.
