A horse in distress, now dubbed Frosty, was rescued after falling into a frozen creek near Cochin, Sask. The incident prompted local residents, including Cochin’s mayor Mark Pattinson and Ed Scott, to spring into action. Despite initial attempts using ropes and manpower, the horse remained trapped until a Jeep with a winch arrived on the scene. With the help of community members and RCMP officers, the horse was successfully pulled out of the icy water.
Although exhausted and covered in ice, Frosty was quickly warmed up and cared for at the village shop. Pattinson, reaching out to fellow horse owners for support, highlighted that Frosty was a stray as his previous owner had passed away. The horse’s heartwarming rescue garnered immense community support, with donations pouring in for his veterinary care.
Frosty was eventually transported to the Lakeland veterinary clinic in North Battleford for further treatment, thanks to the generosity and collaborative efforts of the locals.
