“Canadian Snowboarder Laurie Blouin Wins Gold in World Cup Slopestyle”

Canada’s Laurie Blouin secured a gold medal at a recent World Cup women’s snowboard slopestyle competition held in Aspen, Colorado. Blouin, originally from Quebec City, initially ranked sixth after her first run but delivered an impressive final run, earning a score of 81.21 to clinch victory.

This win marks Blouin’s third career World Cup slopestyle triumph and her 14th time on the podium. It also signifies her first win on the World Cup circuit since March 2022. Leading up to the event, other athletes were striving to secure spots for the upcoming Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy, while Blouin approached the final with a relaxed and confident mindset.

Expressing her approach, Blouin stated, “I was just here to have fun and not have any pressure, and that’s what I did. I’m pretty much qualified for the Olympics, so I came here to just get the nerve back.” Japanese snowboarders Mari Fukada and Kokomo Murase claimed the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In the men’s division, Francis Jobin from Quebec City was the highest-ranking Canadian, finishing in 12th place. The men’s gold was secured by Jake Canter of the United States, followed by Yiming Su in second place and Dane Menzies from New Zealand in third.
