“Actor Robert Carradine Dies at 71 after Battling Bipolar Disorder”

Robert Carradine, a well-known actor from the famous Hollywood Carradine family, has passed away at the age of 71. He was recognized for his roles in popular films such as “Revenge of the Nerds” and the Disney Channel series “Lizzie McGuire.” The actor’s family revealed that he had been battling bipolar disorder for 20 years before tragically taking his own life.

Keith Carradine, Robert’s brother, emphasized that there should be no shame in discussing his struggles with mental illness. Despite working in the entertainment industry for over four decades and collaborating with renowned directors, Robert did not achieve the same level of global fame as his siblings Keith and David Carradine.

Initially, Robert Carradine had aspirations of becoming a race-car driver rather than following his family’s acting legacy. However, his career took off with appearances in TV shows like “Bonanza” and movies like “The Cowboys.” He later went on to star in notable films such as “Mean Streets” and “Coming Home,” alongside his brother David in the series “Kung Fu.”

One of Robert’s most significant successes was his role in the comedy “Revenge of the Nerds,” where he portrayed the lead character Lewis Skolnick. He continued to engage with his iconic character through various projects like the “Revenge of the Nerds” sequel and the TV show “King of the Nerds.” Additionally, he found success in the 2000s with his role as Lizzie McGuire’s father in the Disney Channel series.

Despite facing personal challenges, including a divorce and a car accident in Colorado, Robert Carradine maintained a strong bond with his family, including his three children. His daughter, Ever Carradine, expressed gratitude for her father’s unwavering love and support throughout her life.

The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Robert Carradine, a talented actor whose contributions will be remembered by his fans and colleagues alike.
