Barry Manilow, aged 82, will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous spot detected on his lung following a prolonged battle with bronchitis. The singer disclosed this news on Monday, explaining that a routine MRI scan revealed the presence of cancer on his left lung. Fortunately, the cancer was diagnosed at an early stage, and doctors are optimistic that it has not spread beyond the lung. Consequently, Manilow is not expected to undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatment but will focus on rest and recovery with simple remedies like chicken soup and watching reruns of the show “I Love Lucy.”
A statement released by Manilow’s representatives clarified that the cancerous spot is categorized as a stage one tumor, and the surgery is scheduled to take place towards the end of December. Subsequently, Manilow will take a break in January to recuperate, with plans to resume his performances in February. His comeback will commence with Valentine’s weekend concerts starting on February 12 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, followed by arena concerts resuming on February 28 in Tampa, Florida. Originally slated to perform in ten concerts across nine different locations in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Ohio in January, these shows have now been rescheduled to February.
